In her work, Linda Kaye-Moses uses a multitude of techniques
(metal clay, engraving, stamping embossing, dieforming, fold-forming, patination,
roll-printing, cold-connections, blockprinting, assemblage and collage) to
demonstrate the latent connection between her various media (sterling silver,
fine silver, gemstones, 14K gold details,
found objects, organic materials and occasional alternative metals).
Kaye-Moses' work emphasizes the narrative capacity of art in general, and wearable objects
specifically, with a focus on mythic connections and adornment as empowering object.
Many of her jewels are paired with 'nesting cases' that serve as homes
for them when they are not being worn. These cases and their elements, often including
poetry and drawings, thematically frame and re-emphasize the jewels themselves.
The rich texture of the pieces encourages the viewer/wearer
to read and re-read them as stories to be lingered over and unraveled.
Linda Kaye-Moses has been working full-time as
a professional jeweler since 1978. Her work has been exhibited
nationally in galleries and at juried craft shows, including the
Smithsonian. She has received two Massachusetts Arts Lottery Council
Grants, three Massachusetts Cultural Council Professional Development
Grants and a Niche Award.
