My work's uniqueness begins with an inspiration in an area unrelated to metals and translating it into metals. These inspirations are naturally formed lines and patterns in marbles, agates and other stones as well as contemporary and ancient art, textiles and architecture. This uniqueness is compounded by attention to detail. I start with drawings or models and totally hand-fabricate from sheet, wire and tubing. This fabrication and some combination of etching, roller pressing, and patinas create texture, pattern, and depth. The end result can range from an ancient to a contemporary feel, while the design can range from intricate to simple compositions of line and texture. The completed work becomes a small-scale structure that can be worn, frequently in more than one way, and, even on occasion, displayed as an independent artwork.
