Check your coat and support music programs in the public schools.
(This information is from our March 2009 show)
Since 1998, the enthusiastic volunteers from
the Marlborough Public Schools Music Association have been operating a coat
and package check to benefit music in the public schools. All donations are voluntary,
and 100% of the proceeds put music in Marlborough's public schools.
The Marlborough Public Schools (MPS) Music Association is a totally non-profit organization
formed specifically to support all music students in the Marlborough school system with an
emphasis on the higher grades. Their financial assistance includes vocal and dance groups as
well as instrumental. The members are the parents of the music students, the students
themselves, the music teachers and many involved community members.
This volunteer organization provides revenue that:
Enables the Association to present annual scholarships to graduating seniors who will be
continuing their education in the music field
Provides a variety of student functions (such as an Awards Banquet) throughout the year
Supports student music programs and activities
Sends the students to cultural performances and on performing trips, including
competitive performances.
In addition, the Association works with the Music Department Coordinator and music teachers
to provide assistance in acquiring items not funded in the school's budget, provides chaperones
necessary on buses, parades and cultural activities and provides extra services to help concerts
run efficiently.
Over the years, the Association has raised thousands of dollars for the music program,
purchasing many new items (such as sound equipment, acoustical panels), providing
performance dress for concerts and competitions, and repairing older or damaged instruments.
Paradise City is proud to support the Marlborough Public Schools Music Association, and we
hope that you feel the same way.
Thank you for your generous support!
